Student Book Showcases talent from NY Metro Design Schools

By Megan Dang

This is the first edition of the ASID Student Book. It is a collective portfolio showcasing the works of student members in the New York Metro area. We started this book at our ASID Pratt Chapter with the collaboration between students including myself, Megan Dang, an undergraduate student, Jia-Yi Jhu, a graphic designer and Lucy Wang, a graduate student at Pratt Institute. The book began as a tool for students to proudly share their design projects with fellow students and professionals. Our team’s vision was to create a platform to present unique projects from interior design students across the New York Metro area.

Our ASID Pratt Chapter started by assembling a book team which included scouting for a graphic designer and other ASID members to collaborate with during the process. After numerous meetings, our team reached out to all design schools, student members and faculty to spread the word about student project submissions. The process started in early February, and by early April we received numerous student submissions from eight different programs/schools.

The book comprises the variation of student work offered at different interior design programs and also acts as a source of inspiration for other interior design students and professionals. We thank our book team and the ASID Student Chapter at Pratt Institute for their tremendous efforts on this publication. We hope the book will soon be published. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
