Angst-Free Holidays with Wabi-Sabi & Robyn Griggs Lawrence

Description

Introducing Wellness Wednesday, presented by the ASID NY Metro Health, Wellness & Sustainability Committee.

Angst-Free Holidays with Wabi-Sabi & Robyn Griggs Lawrence

Between Martha Stewart and our social media feeds, there’s a lot of pressure to make the holidays perfect, and it can take all the joy out of them. Robyn Griggs Lawrence, author of The Wabi-Sabi House and Simply Imperfect: Revisiting the Wabi-Sabi House, will discuss how the Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection can help remove expectations and replace them with nurturing and appreciation, which is what the holidays are meant to celebrate.

Intimately tied to Zen Buddhism, Wabi-Sabi emphasizes living in the moment, stripping away the unnecessary, and finding satisfaction in everyday things. After Robyn's talk, we’ll be swapping holiday stories instead of cookies, so come prepared and BYOS (bring your own story).

As a special holiday treat, we’ll be giving away three signed copies of Simply Imperfect throughout the presentation, so be sure to stick with us until the very end.
