Join ASID NY Metro at AD Design Show March 22–25 for Best of AD Judging, Panel Discussion and more

By Danielle McWilliams

If you’ve been in the design biz long enough, you know that spring time equals show time. Many of the top design tradeshows and fairs occur right here in our backyard. Our planner is currently open to March and the Architectural Digest Design Show, March 22 through 25. From furniture, accessories, lighting and art, to kitchen, bath, building products, hardware, and flooring, the show boasts offerings by both independent makers and established manufacturers.

Held at Pier 94 in New York, the experience includes insider access to seminar programs headlined by design world luminaries, as well as exciting culinary demonstrations, stunning installations and VIP industry events such as DIFFA’s DINING BY DESIGN co-located at neighboring Pier 92.

On Thursday, March 22 (trade day), a jury of ASID NY Metro Chapter designers will be walking the aisles to select the “crème de la crème” for the annual Best of Awards. With over 400 brands on display at the show, the competition is stiff. Last year, Benjamin Moore received the Best in Show Award; Borealis Studio was recognized as the Best of MADE; Zavard Design took home the Best Innovation Design Award and JM Lifestyles was recognized as the Best in Sustainability. The 2018 results will be announced live from the show and shared on our social channels.

The show opens to all ticket holders on Friday, March 23. From 3:00–4:00 P.M., the Chapter will present, “Seeing the World Through Colored Glasses.” Designers Genevieve Gorder, Charles Pavarini III and Björn Björnnson, as well as Benjamin Moore’s Ellen O’Neil, will discuss how color and pattern has led to smashing successes, elevating interiors to a new standard.

Held on-site in the Dacor Theater, the panel discussion will be moderated by Lori Weitzner, author of Ode to Color. Admission is free to design trade who pre-register online. The on-site ticket fee for trade is $40 at the door. Programs are included with the cost of admission, but seating is limited. All tickets also include free admission to DIFFA’s 20th Annual DINING BY DESIGN at Pier 92. More information can be found at www.ADDesignShow.com.
