ASID 2022 GATHER National Conference Panel Recap

Description

ASID held its annual conference, GATHER, this year in Miami, from the 21-24 of September. We'll breakdown the conference, discuss pros/cons, highlights as well as what was featured in terms of health, wellness and sustainability. Come join us as a panel of four members from the Heath, Wellness and Sustainability committee discuss everything you missed and want to know about the state of interior design today. The event will be cohosted with the New York School of Interior Design.

PHOEBE BEACHNER

 

Phoebe Beachner is an interior designer for Hart Howerton New York, where she focuses mainly on hotel & restaurant design, design for spa and wellness, and private high-end residential. Phoebe is currently the NEWH NY Chapter Green Voice Committee Chair, ASID NY Chapter’s Professional Development Director, a member of the ASID NY Chapter's Events & Heath, Wellness & Sustainability Committees and sits on the ASID Advocate by Design Council. Phoebe is also a Healthy Materials Advocate for the HML at Parsons School of Design and LEED Green Associate certified. Phoebe has a BFA in interior design from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a Master of Professional Studies in Sustainable Interior Environments degree from the New York School of Interior Design (NYSID). Phoebe has been a recipient of the IIDA Sustainable Design Education Fund, a panelist on the IIDA Future of Design Roundtable, and has been published in the ASID NY Metro Chapter’s DESIGN Magazine and the Atelier New York School of Interior Design Magazine.

MICHELLE JACOBSON

Michelle Jacobson has been a practicing interior designer for 30 years. In 2018, Michelle completed the Sustainable Interior Environments graduate program at New York School of Interior Design and she is now a part of the faculty at New York School of Interior Design teaching both undergraduate and graduate students. In addition, Michelle is LEED AP ID+C Certified, WELL AP Certified, Living Future Certified, a Green AP, a Fitwel Ambassador and a TRUE Advisor. Michelle also sits on the ASID National Codes and Standards Committee where she edits the Quarterly Newsletter and is a committee member for the Sustainability and Accessibility Committees. She also is a member of the ICC Code Interpretation Committee.

MONSERRAT MENENDEZ

Monserrat Menendez is Texan born of Mexican parents, part of her passion has always been being able to help and guide people to surround themselves with better ways of living, taking the basic knowledge of the space and adjusting to the best necessities of the user, guiding them to a more sustainable holistic path while improving their homes. She studied Interior Architecture in Centro de Estudios Gestalt in Mexico with an honor Certification for Interior Design from the Paris American Academy and a MP-S in Sustainable Environments for Interior Design from New York School for Interior Design, and is attending a Design Thinking and Innovation Co-hort this spring from Harvard Business School. She is an experienced designer with years of inspired and professional achievements and stays in touch with the latest developments of sustainable concepts and design. She is currently working as a project manager for a luxury interior design firm in the Hamptons, Christin Farrar design.
