A Day of Learning and Inspiration: Recap of the ASID NY Metro CEU Summit

On November 14, 2023, the New York Design Center transformed into a hub of knowledge and inspiration for the ASID NY Metro's CEU Summit. This empowering event drew an engaged crowd, offering attendees an ideal opportunity to elevate their careers, earn up to 6 CEU credits, and gain invaluable insights from industry leaders.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome and breakfast hosted by Visual Comfort & Co, setting the stage for a series of enlightening sessions. The company’s EVP, Josh Weiss, opened the summit with "Layers of Light and the Importance of Great Architectural Lighting," highlighting the transformative power of lighting in design.

The morning sessions were a deep dive into practical and strategic aspects of interior design in the Lexington Home Brands showroom. Phyllis Harbinger, designer & author, shared her expertise on "Getting Organized, Streamlining Your Workflow," offering tips for greater efficiency in design processes. This was complemented by attorneyWendy Estela's session on "Using Your Design Contract to Strengthen Client Relationships," providing valuable insights into the legal intricacies of design work.

A delightful lunch break, courtesy of Brown Jordan, provided a moment of relaxation and networking among peers. The afternoon resumed with Christine Abbate from Novitá Communications presenting "How to Get Your Interior Design Work Published," a must-attend for anyone looking to showcase their work in the public eye.

Karine Achkar from Lutron led an intriguing session on "Illuminating Our Experiences with Human Centric Lighting," delving into the impact of lighting on human behavior and well-being. Tom Clancy, from Audio Command Systems, explored "Hidden Technology for the Home," revealing the latest in discrete and integrated home tech solutions.

LuAnn Nigara helmed the closing keynote session.  The acclaimed motivational speaker and business expert captivated the audience with "The Ten Non-Negotiables of All Successful Entrepreneurs," imparting wisdom crucial for every ambitious professional.

The day culminated with a festive cocktail reception hosted by Baker | McGuire Furniture, where attendees mingled and exchanged notes from the day's inspiring sessions.

The ASID NY Metro CEU Summit was more than just an educational event; it was a continued celebration of a design community in full bloom.  For those who attended, the summit was a great moment to gather, grow and learn together as professionals and peers.
