The elegant Rimadesio NYC showroom hosted our May 12 recap of the Milan Experience at our May Chapter Meeting. Kim Mitchell, ASID Allied, Founding Principal, KAM Design; Faten Baassiri, NCIDQ, ASID, Principal, Studio1820 Design LLC; Dawn Gepfert. NCIDQ, CID, ASID, Principal, Dawn P. Gepfert Design; and Arlene Angard, ASID Allied, CEO and Founding Principal of Arlene Angard Designs & Fine Art, shared their Milan highlights. Alexandra Zwicky, ASID Affiliate, Senior Vice President, Novità Communications was a special guest, and Maria Lomanto, ASID Allied, Founding Principal, DesignGLXY Group LLC, moderated the talk.
The panel praised their curated VIP experience in Milan, and filled the evening with their favorite photographs, trends, and memories. They told us about the private showroom tours, art installations, and visits to palazzos—and the exclusive dinners and parties! One theme was the importance of craft—learning more about how home furnishings and art pieces are created can add significantly to the stories we tell through our interiors. Our Bronze Sponsor Rimadesio’s chic showroom of closets, storage pieces, furniture, doors and more provided the perfect setting for an evening highlighting Italian design.
The Milan trip included a private overview and special tours at Salone del Mobile. The showrooms were ARTE + Sagarminaga Atelier, Fendi Casa, Trussardi, Bentley Home and Bugati Home, Poltrona Frau, the Antolini Stone Room, the Ralph Lauren palazzo, the Molteni&C Palazzo, and the Tiffany & Co. Palazzo. Art exhibits included Palazzo Lita with the incredible Mosca Partners Variations Installation, Gallery Albrto Levi, Palazzo Isimbardi, as well as a Giorgio Armani exhibit and a private tour of the Villa Necchi. There was a VIP lunch in the Poltrona Frau Prince Apartment, while Meridani and Davide Groppi, Rubelli, and Rimadesio. Geraci and Kurrent hosted us for delicious dinners. Parties at Poltrona Frau, Baccarat, Casa Gessi, Versace Home, Ornare, and Gervasoni, and the fabulous North America Night Party at Teatro Litta, hosted by Novitá PR, provided networking and fun!
