Guests in colorful 80s preppy attire packed the New York Design Coalition’s popular Summer Social, held at Lutron’s Experience Center on East 28th Street on June 24. Lutron and Hill Residential, the event’s second sponsor, provided sparkling cocktails and delectable appetizers as members of our city’s broader design community networked and celebrated. Our very own Professional Development Director, Chris Armenta of AVS Systems brought his DJ skills to the party and kept the yacht rock music going for the dance floor. The party’s proceeds benefit Nazareth Housing, a community-based non-profit promoting housing stability and economic mobility among vulnerable families and individuals in New York City. The New York Design Coalition includes our chapter, the Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY), the Interior Design Society NYC, the New York Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA) and the Manhattan chapter of the National Kitchen + Bath Association (NKBA).
