Best Practices for Sourcing Textiles for Commercial & Residential Use

Please join us for our November Chapter Meeting where we will be touring the Kravet Historical Archives, and our knowledgeable panel will be sharing the best practices for sourcing textiles for commercial and residential use. From carpet fibers, to upholstery fabrics and wallcoverings, industry experts will be asked about the history, specifications, construction of, and installation methods of these textiles.

The meeting will begin at 6pm, with a tour of the Kravet Archives beginning at 6:30pm. The panel discussion will begin at 7pm with time for questions from the audience.

Drinks and appetizers will be provided. Sponsored by Fiber-Seal, attendees will also have the chance to win a Fiber-Seal Designer Survival Kit during the meeting's raffle.

Directions: To get to the Kravet Woodbury showroom, one should take the Long Island Railroad Port Jefferson Branch from Penn Station to the Syosset Station. This should take approximately 1 hr. From the railroad station, it is 7 minutes to the Woodbury facility.

OR One can take the LIRR from Penn Station to Woodbury Common in Woodbury, Ny, taking the RONKONKOMA BRANCH train from 34 St-Penn Station station to Hicksville station. Next, take the N79 bus from Hicksville Sta / Duffy stop to Jericho Tp / Woodbury stop. The total trip duration for this route is approximately 1 hr 34 min.

Via Car Transportation from Manhattan should take approximately 1 hr. 

Scott Kravet

 

Scott Kravet is the Chief Creative Director of Kravet Inc., overseeing all aspects of product development for Kravet Inc. and its brands. An alumnus of Emory University and the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, Scott was a member of the fourth generation to join the family business, which was founded by his great grandfather in the early 1900s. As head of product development for Kravet Inc., Scott manages creative teams in five design studios in New York and worldwide. He has a near encyclopedic knowledge of textiles, and he travels the globe sourcing products from the finest craftsmen and best mills.

Nicole Koenig Passman

Nicole Koenig Passman has worked in carpet sales for the past 20 years. She and her sister Brooke managed their family carpet store on the Upper East side for 8 years, before both joining Stark in 2009. Nicole specializes in custom area rugs and installations, and loves the creativity she gets to utilize while working with her amazing clients at the Syosset showroom.

John Fiscian

John Fiscian is an Account Manager for York Wallcoverings and owns brand positioning within the marketplace. John provides service for designer and retail accounts in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, Queens, and Fairfield County, CT. Prior to moving to New York, John honed his knowledge of the interior design industry from working at Jerry Pair in Atlanta, GA. As a longtime admirer of storytelling and all things beautiful, John enjoys partnering with designers to provide functional, unique, and high-end spaces for their clients every single day.

Eric Fried

Eric Fried is the CEO of Fiber-Seal Northeast. In his role, Eric’s primary responsibilities include management of overall business and technical operations. Eric joined Fiber-Seal Northeast in 2012 following a 20 year career in US and international hospitality development. Eric graduated from University of Wisconsin and holds a Masters of Management in Hospitality and Business from The Hotel School at Cornell University. Eric is an avid runner and cyclist. Eric enjoys spending time with his wife and kids when he is not watering the flowers.

Lisa Jones

Lisa Jones has been in the design industry for almost 20 years. She began her career as an Interior Designer eventually taking on a Sales role with Fiber-seal in addition. After developing her own sales territory she became the Sales & Marketing Director for the region, overseeing the sales team and working to develop all of the companies marketing efforts. Design is definitely her passion - and she loves partnering with Interior Designer and working in the industry.
